Much to Mrs C’s delight I decided that we needed to see the Maritime museum whilst in Venice (I know old romantic)
So this has ended up being a bit of a photo dump of an unexpectedly nice museum to visit, you can even get a Gondola to it if you really want.
Mrs C is almost as excited as I am.....almost. Some really interesting and decorative weapons like this cannon. All the lighter ships guns are breach loaders allowing them to be fixed to the sides of guns. I feel like I might have know that already.
This mortar reminded me of the Coehorns mortars at Culloden.
This diddie cannon just like the Conquistador cannon in the old Foudnry range.
As well as the earlier maritime weaponry some WW1 weapons were also on view like this Russian Maxim.
I thought this was a French Chauchat but it is an Etienne.
And a nice little portable trench gun.
The next three floors held replica ships, bits from ships and uniforms. I was abandoned about here as Mrs C decided to partake of the local vintage in the sun and wait for me to finish.
Ken some Garibaldi uniforms for you here!
Along with some veyr nice WW1 and WW2 uniforms.
Mr Reilly I reckon this is the scale you need to start thinking for your naval games!
Also a bunch of very interesting oriental ships models.
Lastly before joining Mrs C for liquid refreshment I re-visited the small arms to get a few pictures of the very nice collection.
It doesnt really stand out from the outside, you would have to know its there.
Further up the Arsenale is a gallery, basicly a big warehouse full of boats made there, including this lovely MTB.
