Completed Company Troops for the Sikh Wars Project

I spent a fair bit of the weekend basing and with a fair number of Sikh Wars figures complete there was a lot to do.

First we have the 59th Bengal Native Infantry. These will complete another historical Brigade for the Sikh Wars, Stacey's, which included HM10th foot and 43rd BNI.

The 59th have green facings and fought at Sobroan but can represent a number of green faced units that fought in various actions.

There is a nice mix of manufacturers in the unit, just over half are Wargames Foundry with a good mix of Empress and the Officer is a Perry Carlist War figure.
I think the different ranges all mix well and give a really nice dynamic unit. My favourites being the Empress standard bearers I think.
The way the uniforms are sculpted are slightly different but still work, overall really pleased with these guys.

I was a bit top heavy with officers of Native Irregular Cavalry so this fine chap becomes an extra leader.
Another Empress Miniatures Indian Mutiny figure from the original Iron Duke range, the Horse is a standard officers horse rather than the native ponies the other troops for this unit (12th) have.
Lastly the 12th Bengal Native Irregular Cavalry. As they were all re-numbered at some point, possibly between the two Anglo-Sikh Wars its a bit difficult to pin down which battles they fought in.
Still the classic colour combination is great and is different from the other units I have in red and green and red and yellow. The figure to the right is mounted on a Gripping beast horse with a green stuff saddle cloth, all the rest are Empress riders and horses.
I had a few too many European officers so at least one has had a head swap to make him a native officer.

Again happy with the outcome on these guys.

Hopefully planning a game soon I can share. Keep an eye out for that.

Until then take it easy.

  2. Great stuff Roger....an era I have long been attracted to, I even have a reasonable number of BNI units (Old Glory) although no guns or cavalry. One day, perhaps......
