Indian Workbench

I have been cracking on with the Sikh Wars collection and made some decent progress.  Plenty more to do but its coming together.

A mixed bag, the first figure is an Iron Duke Mutineer, still undecided if I should add him into a unit or keep him as a leader figure, the other two are old Foundry Afghans, still beautiful figures. These should make up the first figures for a nice 6 man skirmish unit for both Black Powder and Sharp Practice.
These Foundry Matchlock men led by their Sikh Officer have come out OK despite being even older than the Afghan range. This gives me 12 of these guys, so either a small unit for Black Powder or I need another 8 to complete them.

Here is what I have so far ready for basing. 2 extra bases of 4 would still look better I feel.

These 4 Sikh armoured Gorchurra are the first of a unit of 10, the rest are started so fingers crossed have another unit of Sikh Cavalry from these guys. I took a second picture to share the bright colour schemes for these guys. The horses are all Saracen horses from Blacktree, a little big compared with some of the older stuff, but great when they are all in the same unit.
Whilst putting this post together I got the chance to finish more of these armoured Gorchurra, so the whole unit is now ready to go to the basing department. Lots of colour although I have cheated a bit in not including any design detail or patterns on the saddle blankets.

This last lot are the second half of the 31st regiment of foot, this finishes the regiment off and they will be off to the basing department very shortly.
Again the whole lot together do look very good, I like how dynamic they are charging forward.
Another step forward with this collection, once based the British will be 4 units of foot, two batteries and 5 units of horses completed, almost enough for a small game.

I also managed a couple of mounted officers, both of these will just part of larger units, the cavalry officer for the next unit of Bengal Native Cavalry and the Infantry officer will form part of the next infantry regiment as there are only 18 of them so this figure will replace the two missing.

More to collect from the Leeds Fiasco show tomorrow, more Perry and Iron Duke Afghans alongside Iron Duke Bengal Horse and Foot from chum Jerry and also from Empress. Happy with these but a long way to go with the rest of the collection.

Talking of which, whilst waiting to post this I managed to get a bunch more Sikh Wars figures finished.
I picked up a bunch of second hand Mutiny Sepoys both Iron Duke and Foundry, whilst these are designed for the mutiny some units of Sepoys wore this "dress down" uniform in the field so I am pleased to be able to put a unit together.
A few more of the Sepoys with the shakoe for my 68th Bengal Native Infantry regiment. Just over half way complete for this unit which is great.
Now these fellas are really interesting. A number of British units wore the bell top shako usually with a white cover. I had been given serious thought to how I approached this when I came across a listing of 18 on ebay where someone had already done the hardwork of converting the shako's with green stuff. Thank you someone!
The person converting these Perry Carlist War British has made a great job and I am really pleased with how they are coming out after painting.
These Sikh Dragoons are also from Foundry and the last two of a unit. I got the horses from Eagle miniatures.
These next ones are the first four of the Foundry Baluchi figures which I am going to use to create two units of Irregulars. Like these even if they are giants carrying cannons.
A couple of Perry Afghans, again I have 18 of these to do to then mix into the Foundry ones already completed.
So what happened to the last of the Sikh Dragoons? Well here they are the full unit completed. Really quite pleased with these.

Watch this space for the finished units when the basing department is back on it.

    1. Cheers Colin, there wer e at leas a couple of units used them, I have aload of the old Foundry China range in bell tops, undecided whether to field them with or without covers, might be atask to convert them. That said got a few more of these done and think the unit will look great.
