So after a bit of a gap the basing department has turned my latest two units around in quick time. First one finished is my 6th battalion of Saxon foot completed and the 2nd battalion of regiment Pistoris.
The red faced mid blue is very colourful and a nice contrast. These next few battalions of Saxons will have more metal figures as I picked quite a few up second hand on ebay. So with this unit its a fairly even split between Wargames Factory plastics ( now Warlord) Wargames Foundry old WSS range and the Ebor WSS range.
As usual the excellent flags are by Warfare miniatures.
The top picture gives you an idea of how the virtual third rank has worked with this unit. I quite like the grenadier below with his grenade ready to throw.
:)
Pistoris fought at Kliszow and Thorn and other units in the same blue fought in other engagements so its a useful unit as well as being colourful.
Initial plan is to have each brigade made up of 4 battalions in 2 regiments so Pistoris will eventually be joined by Weissenfels for no better reason that the flags are on the same sheet from Warfare. I think they are a few months away however.
The above Picture also gives you an idea of how the depth of the basing works, Particularly good for protecting the figures.
Next up will be the Polish light cavalry just back from the basing department and an after action report on the Monmouth Courthouse battle recently fought using British Grenadier. This last fought over 2 Sundays and one evening with lots of pictures to share.
